If you’re over 50 and like competition, Yukon Senior Games may be for you! Sponsored by Yukon Parks and Recreation, Senior Games is looking for active persons 50 years and older to compete in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Yukon’s Senior Games is an Olympic-style sports event designed to promote healthy lifestyles for seniors through fitness, sports, active lifestyle and athletic competition.
Events included in the Yukon Senior Games are: Archery (Barebow Recurve, Compound Fingers, Compound Release, Compound Barebow and Recurve), Basketball (Free Throw, Three Pointers, Hot Shot, 3 on 3 and Timed Dribbling), Bowling (Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles), Golf, Horseshoes, Pickleball (Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles), Pool (8 Ball), Softball, Table Tennis (Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles), Track (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m Racewalk, 1600m) and Field (Discus, Hammer Throw, Shot Put, Javelin, High Jump, Running Long Jump, Standing Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault), Washer Pitching, Weightlifting (Arm Curl, Bench Press, Leg Press, Push Ups and Sit Ups and 4v4 Volleyball.
If you are more artistic than athletic, then maybe the Creative Arts Contest is for you. There are two alternatives in the Creative Arts Contest: Creative Writing and Photography. Creative Writing categories include: Poetry, Short Story or Essay while the Photography categories are: Daily Life, Portrait and Nature.
